Who has to take this exam?
It's required for foreigners applying for Lithuanian citizenship through naturalization, and for those who need it as part of getting a permanent residence permit.
Can I take it before the State Language exam?
No. You can only register for the Constitution basics exam after you've passed the State Language exam — that order is fixed.
How much does it cost?
The Constitution basics exam costs €21. The State Language exam is separate, and costs €57.
Where and how do I register?
Registration is done online at migracija.lt. You can only sit the exam at a base school in the municipality where you live, study, or work.
What if I fail?
You can retake it — just register and pay again through migracija.lt.
How do I find out my results?
By calling the base school where you took the exam. Results are available no later than 12 working days after the exam date.
Who issues the certificate?
The National Education Agency (NŠA) issues it, and you collect it from the base school where you sat the exam.
Is anyone exempt?
Yes — for example, people aged 65 and older, or those with certain disability statuses, may be exempt. Confirm your specific case with the Migration Department.
